Robert V "Bob" Eardley

Eardley_Passing_2- A retired military veteran and a prominent figure in the golfing community, passed away this past Saturday, February 17, at the age of 71. Born on April 1, 1952, Bob's life was marked by his dedication to service, his passion for golf, and his warm, welcoming nature.

Bob's journey began on the fairways of life at Mt Union College, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1974. Following his academic pursuits, Bob embarked on a career in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction as a Logistics Management Specialist. His military service was characterized by diligence, honor, and a commitment to excellence.

Beyond his military duties, Bob found solace and joy on the golf course. A skilled player, he claimed victory in the 1999 Metropolitan Championship held at Norwood Hills Country Club, now known as Springfield Elks. His skills where further highlighted in 2006 when he secured the title of Senior Metropolitan Champion at the Country Club of the North.

However, Bob's impact on the golfing world extended far beyond his individual achievements. He served as the de facto pied piper of golf for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base community, where he welcomed newcomers with open arms and organized countless games and tournaments. His efforts not only fostered a sense of camaraderie but also helped newcomers feel embraced and accepted within the community.

Bob's legacy is one of service, sportsmanship, and community. His warm demeanor, coupled with his love for golf, left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched through his kindness and passion for the game.

Bob is survived his wife Carolyn and son Trey.

A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be on Monday, February 26th at 10am in the Jones Room at Twin Base Golf Course - Twin Base GC is located off route 444 outside WPAFB in Fairborn, OH

May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace, and may his love for golf continue to inspire others for generations to come.
