Matthew Kowalski
PJ Boatwright Intern

I am a graduate of Edison High School in Milan Ohio.  I am currently enrolled full time at Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN and a member of the men’s golf team.

Growing up, my parents involved me  in many activities and provided me with an array of  experiences. When I was 4 years old, my parents began taking me with them on the golf course and teaching me the rules of the game.  I loved the game of golf even then. As each year passed, I continued to golf in addition to playing basketball, soccer,  and baseball.  I enjoy all sports.  It wasn’t until my junior high years that I focused more heavily on my golf game. I attended clinics with the high school students and had the opportunity to travel with the high school team and learn from them at their events as the team manager.  I had the opportunity to meet golfers from other area schools and have made some lifelong connections with p

layers of all ages.  I have a passion for the game.  My first two jobs were working at local golf clubs in my community performing various tasks including golf cart return and clean up, driving range management, pro shop management,  sales and the opportunity to proctor holes and caddy during events.    I learned early on the professionalism of the sport and have a high level of respect for the game.

When I was 12 years old, my father helped me start a lawn mowing business. This is something I have continued to do the past 6 years. Although challenging at times, running my own business has helped guide me in my interpersonal relationships and communication with others.   This professionalism has carried over  to my golf game and employment.

As stated previously, I have  a true passion for the game of golf and enjoy meeting others who share this passion .  I have  had the opportunity to work at youth clinics in my community and believe these clinics are crucial in engaging the younger generation in a sport that can be enjoyed over a lifetime.

I am currently studying Business Management and Finance at Tusculum College and hope to someday relate this to the game of golf.  I am part of a leadership program through the college that has afforded me many introductions to business members in the community. Through this program, I have been fortunate to attend golfing events and interact with golfers of all levels and ages, sharing my knowledge as well as learning from those I interact with.
