Path to Team Ohio Gets Underway
Team_Ohio- Our golf community is excited for the Miami Valley Junior Championship at Pipestone GC this weekend - this year is special, as it's the first qualifier for the new Team Ohio. Among the golfers will be Wayne High School's Braylen Haney, a sophomore. He tells us the USGA's and all of the Ohio Golf Association's commitment to developing elite golfers is fantastic, saying, "It gives golfers like me an opportunity to play at a high level and compete with great players." Haney's brother, Bryce, is a successful golfer who played for Wright State. Haney tells us, "What I enjoy most about golf is playing with my older brother every day after school; being with him and learning from him."

Two young ladies also playing this weekend are Taylor and Elisa Dunckle. Taylor is a junior and her sister Elisa is a sophomore - they play for Springboro High School - their team placed 6th at State last fall. Taylor says the "friendly competition is my favorite part of golf," while her sister Elisa says having the event serve as a qualifier for the new Team Ohio is great, "I am excited for the new opportunities for junior golfers in Ohio."

Their former coach and current Golf Professional at NCR CC, Hannah McCrabb tells us, "As a PGA golf professional and a former high school golf coach, having a Team Ohio is amazing. I know Ohio has some amazing talent to showcase, as I have seen in person the past two years at the Division 1 State Championship, which incidentally will be coming to our facility this Fall.”
