Ohio Am Qualifier is Tuesday AT Dayton CC

Dayton CC will host 120 players as they compete for 26 Qualifying Positions in the 116th Ohio Amateur which will be held July 25th through 29th at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati Ohio.

Since 2010 the Miami Valley Area has seen three Ohio Amateur Champions from our area. Michael Bernard in 2010, Austin Sipe in 2017 and Austin Greaser in 2020.

Another Course Makes a Comeback

Graywolf_GC_Promo On the weekend of our three-year anniversary of the tornadoes that greatly affected our community, we wanted to share an update on one of our golf facilities that was most affected, Moss Creek Golf Course now Graywolf Golf Club.

The fully renovated course is now open with a fresh look and new name! The club offers daily fee play, annual memberships, outings and leagues.

DIANA SCHWAB, GET A GIRL GOLFING CLINIC

This Free Clinic will be held on Monday, July 11th at Community Golf Course beginning at 10am and is open to any girl ages 7 -18. This annual clinic is named after Diana Schwab who hosted this clinic every year until her untimely passing in 2013.

Austin Greaser at the NCAA Finals

Greaser_at_NCAA_DI_Championships_Final Watch and Follow Vandalia Native, Austin Greaser and his team the North Carolina Tar Heels as they compete in the NCAA DI Golf Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club. The Finals consists of three days of stroke play on Friday, May 27 thru Sunday, May 29 (54 holes), after which the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will be determined. That is followed by a final day of 18 holes of stroke play on Monday, May 30 to determine the top eight teams that will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion. The team national champion will be determined by a match-play format that will consist of quarterfinals and semifinals conducted on Tuesday, May 31, followed by finals on Wednesday, June 1.

To Follow the Scores

The Golf Channel will broadcast at 5pm on Monday and pretty much all day on Tuesday, with the final matches coming on air at 5pm on Wednesday.

Looking ahead to Masters Event at urbana CC

2022-06-13_Masters_3x2 Monday, June 13^th sees the second Masters Event of the season when the over 50 set travel to another club celebrating a century of serving our game, Urbana CC.

Founded 100 years ago as a nine-hole course by Pete Dye’s Dad, Paul “Pink” Day. A second nine was added a few decades ago by P.B. Dye, Pete’s son.

Pete Dye worked on the course for many years in his formative years prior to WWII. For a Short Video with Pete and Alice (A designer of note, herself) before their passing a few years ago when UCC Celebrated 90 years.

For our Gamers

While Madden Golf Course is currently not open, that does not mean that you can't play it. We recently had the course designed using the LiDAR scan so you can play all 18 holes on the 2k21 PGA Tour.

2k21 PGA Tour Events using the Madden Course will start as we move into the off season but until then you are welcome to play it all you want!

This past week we added a new Design "Madden Next" using the conceptual design from the Hurzdan Design Group out of Columbus.

Welcome Will to MVGA Staff

Birkholz-Will Will was born and raised in Dublin, Ohio just outside of Columbus. He is a graduate of Dublin Jerome High School. This fall, he will be entering his Senior year at Wittenberg University where he is studying Sport Management.

Will began playing golf at the ripe age of 8 and hasn’t looked back since. Playing four years at Dublin Jerome High School he was a part of two teams that received berths to the OHSSA state championship with the team’s highest finish being 3rd place.

He now is a member of the varsity golf team at Wittenberg University where he has been able to grow not only as a golfer but also as a person. Golf has become a part of his everyday life and he will always have a passion and love for the game. Welcome Aboard Will

Drive Chip and Putt Registration Open

Drive_Chaip_and_Putt_Open Local qualifying begins in May. Entrants will play in girls’ and boys’ divisions in four age categories, with scoring centered around skill development in driving, chipping and putting. Local Qualifying Sites are Tri-City Golf Ranch, Heatherwoode, Southwest Golf Ranch, The Golf Club at Dublin and Blacklick Woods Golf Course
