 Repeats as State Champion
Alter_Team_Win_at_State- Congratulations to Kettering Archbishop Alter, the 2023 Division II boys state champion! The Knights win their second straight state team title and sixth in school history while matching the Division II tournament record with a two-day total of 596.

This years championship was played at the NorthStar Club in Sunbury, just north of Columbus.  In matching the tournament record low score of 596 they defeated the second place team Wyoming by a total of 51 strokes adding a stroke to their first round margin of 25 shots.

The Knights had four golfers finish in the top 10 and all five of their players in the top 17.

Senior Davis Gochenouer, the individual state champion last year, finished third at 149 (74-75) to lead Alter, which won its sixth state team golf championship. Sophomore Andrew Gochenouer (81-71) and junior Grady Tabar (73-79) tied for seventh at 152. Junior T.J. Kreusch (76-77) was 10th at 53 and freshman Matthew Kreusch (155) was 17th at 155. Wyoming junior Finley Bartlett was the individual medalist at 146 (74-72), two shots clear of runner-up Andy Steed, a junior from Clinton-Massie who shot 75-73.

In the Division III boys tournament at the OSU Scarlet Course, Minster shot 672 (329-343) to place sixth. Warren JFK edged Newark Catholic by one shot (648-649) to win the title.

Alter sophomore Lauren Miller tied for eighth in the Division II girls championship at the OSU Gray Course.

Miller, who won a district championship last week, carded a 36-hole total of 156 (74-82). Siena Maschke of Laurel was the medalist (70-73).

Fenwick moved up from fifth to finish third in the team competition. The Falcons shot 710 (358-352). Junior Sophia Rush shot 80-81 to lead Fenwick.

Columbus Academy shot 620 to win the title by 17 shots over runner-up Sugarcreek Garaway.
